The Grand Rapids Yellow Ribbon Citizens Committee, along with the United Way, are proud to sponsor this amazing exhibit! The campaign features a portrait exhibit of 33 Minnesota women veterans from all walks of life who have served our great nation.  I Am Not Invisible is an awareness campaign designed to honor the service and sacrifice of our women veterans, and give our communities an opportunity to show them they are respected and supported, that they are not invisible. Tuesday, May 15

10 am – 4 pm

Mac Open Studio. Free to MAC members or $5/session for non-members, this informal group is open to artists of all skill levels working in any 2-dimensional medium. Bring your latest project and create your art in a supportive community! No instruction is provided, but plenty of advice, critique, and feedback is available from the group. MacRostie Art Center. 405 1st Ave NW.

Open Pottery. Instructor: Bruce Bartos, $15 each/ $10 student. Join area potters and students of all skill levels in this informal, on-going weekly class. The instructor will be on hand to give one-on-one guidance and tips about techniques, glazes, and firings. Call by noon on Tuesday to register for that day’s session 218-326-2697. Artist Talk. Join us for our mid-month Artist Talk with MN artist Jonathan Thunder. For this very special edition of our artist talk series, Jonathan Thunder will be speaking as well as hosting the traveling Ojibwe Language Immersion Showcase. This curated film collection features animated short films that are narrated or acted in all Ojibwemowin. The line-up includes 3 films produced by Wiigwaas Press and 11 stories produced by the Fond du Lac Reservation Language Program. Narrators for the films include Geraldine Howard, Leona Wakonabo, Anna Gibbs, Anton Truer, and more. One additional film will be shown by film maker Catherine Meier in partnership with Misaabekong Ojibwe Language Immersion School. All films were created to teach and preserve the Ojibwe language. Light refreshments, coffee, and snacks will be available. Free. MacRostie Art Center. 405 NW 1st Ave.
