The Pines will perform for this month's Centerstage Minnesota.

MAC Gallery.  Scott West works in a variety of mediums creating narratives with a veneer of bold marks and complex compositions. He creates studio paintings as well as performs as a live painter / band member in the rock band Cloud Cult. Tuesday, November 14

Mac Open Studio. Free to MAC members or $5/session for non-members, this informal group is open to artists of all skill levels working in any 2-dimensional medium. Bring your latest project and create your art in a supportive community! No instruction is provided, but plenty of advice, critique, and feedback is available from the group. MacRostie Art Center. 405 1st Ave NW.

6 – 8:30 pm

Open Pottery. Instructor: Bruce Bartos, $15 each/ $10 student. Join area potters and students of all skill levels in this informal, on-going weekly class. The instructor will be on hand to give one-on-one guidance and tips about techniques, glazes, and firings. Call by noon on Tuesday to register for that day’s session 218-326-2697. Thursday, November 16

Lorna Landvik. Listen to award-winning author as she discusses her life as a writer. Engaging and humorous as a public speaker, comic, playwright and actor, Landvik will share glimpses of her latest book, Once in a Blue Moon through the telling of her own story. Open figure drawing. This group meets weekly to draw from a live model. No instruction is provided and participants must provide their own materials. Poses usually range from 15 to 30 minutes. Serious artists of all levels are welcome to join this group. Please note that models are sometimes nude. Centerstage Minnesota. The Pines. Seussified Christmas Carol. The Reif Center Theatre Ed program starts its 2017-18 season, with Jim Cagle returning to direct “A Seussified Christmas Carol.” This production is for 7th-12th graders. A Suessified  Christmas Carol is a whimsical reinvention of Dickens’ most beloved Christmas story in wacky rhymed couplets. With zoot fruited juices and binka bird geese, from Bed-Headed Fred to Timmy Loo Hoo, this tale of glorious holiday cheer is similar to something Dr. Seuss might have come up with — if he ever could have had his way with the story!
