First Friday Art Walk – April 6, 2018

The First Friday Art Walk is a community event open to all. Events are free unless noted. Families are welcome!

Join us in supporting the next generation of creative individuals as we welcome Mrs. Olson’s 2nd grade class from Southwest Elementary. Together with the help of Danny and Nancy Root, along with Nancy Mike-Johnson, these students are ready to welcome spring with their butterfly exhibit.

Sam Miltich and Friends present live jazz from 7 – 10 pm. This evening celebrating the music of Bill Evans will feature special guests Chris Lomheim on piano and Jay Epstein on drums. All are welcome!

The Village Book Store & Gifts will be presenting book signing with local author Harvey Dahline from 4 – 6:30 pm. Harvey will share his latest book “Can Murder be Justified.”

    CRAFTED BY ITASCA LIFE OPTIONS

Itasca Life options is an organization whose mission is to empower and provide opportunities to people of all abilities. CRAFTED is a program of ILO that works with artists of all abilities. Each piece of artwork was made by a person with a developmental or physical disability.  This program helps tell the story of people that may not always be able to use words to describe experiences and emotion.

Presenting two new exhibits for April: the touring ceramics exhibit Six McKnight Artists and paintings and printmaking by artist Natalia Himmirska. Live music by Maria Annoni on classical guitar from 4 – 6 pm, refreshments by Pizza Hut, food and wine, and artist talks at 6pm.

 

  1. STAINED GLASS WITH CLASS

Showcasing the artwork of Wilma Behn of Grand Rapids. Wilma will present “Visual Stories” with oil paint. Come hear her stories and see her paintings.

 

  1. HISTORIC CENTRAL SCHOOL ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE

Visit with the artists on the 3rd floor including Mary Myers Corwin who creates captivating portraits of dogs in chalk pastel.

    GRAND RAPIDS NORTH STAR WOMEN’S CLUB

Showing FREE kids movies on the second floor of Central School. Screenings at 4:40 and 5:30. Popcorn and hot chocolate free for kids under 10.

 

  1. BREWED AWAKENINGS

April’s featured artist is Mat Norton with artwork featuring flowers and abstract themes. Music by singer/songwriters Terry Price and Jeff Powers with acoustic guitar and vocals from 4:30-6, a dinner special until 6:30, and complimentary coffee and cookies.
