First Friday Art Walk – August 2, 2019

  1. OAK HILL ASSISTED LIVING

Presenting “Jig, Rock, and Tailings,” a celebration of Doug and Ethel Deal and their 35 years publishing the Scenic Range News. The Deals wrote a weekly column about dancing at The Rainbow, High Top, Alamo, and Avalon.

 

  1. FRAME UP
Jane Latimer at Frame Up

Frame up is hosting local painter Jane Latimer. Jane learned the joy of small watercolor painting where she aims to capture landscapes of light through travel and plein air.  If you don’t know what plein air is, come find out!

 

  1. PROJECT CARE FREE CLINIC

Showcasing an octogenarian exhibit – proving that age is simply a number.  Shirley Anger Cook and Kay Yessak both took up painting in their retirement years and will each have a room filled with their work.  Shirley paints in oils, and Kay uses color and abstract styles in acrylic on canvas.

 

  1. VFW POST 1720

Presenting live jazz with Sam Miltich and Friends. The featured guest is Doug Haining on winds, and he will join Sam, Matthew Miltich on bass, and Jay Epstein on drums. Open to members and the public. 7 – 10 pm.

Grand Reopening at Crafted by ILO

Stop by Crafted for their Grand Re-Opening! Music, libations, giveaways, yummy things to nosh, and a final reveal of our updated space. Crafted is dedicated to empowering artists of all abilities.

 

  1. BENDER’S SHOES

Hosting local singer/songwriter Denise Minea, who has been singing and performing as a solo artist or in groups most of her life. With a bend toward Folk and Christian music she loves to blend the two together, and she hopes to bring joy through song to everyone.

 

  1. MACROSTIE ART CENTER

Presenting the annual Juried Art Show and photography by juror Sam Baardman. Music by Olivia Skaja on violin, food by North Homes Inc., plus wine and other refreshments. Juror’s remarks and awards presented at 6 pm.

 

  1. OLD CENTRAL SCHOOL

    Presenting the debut exhibit of local artist Jeannie Evans. Come see a collection of Jeannie’s paintings and wood burning on display.

  • Dixie Love who is a high school senior at GRHS. Dixie will have a variety of medium.  She will have paintings and sketches that have a clash of odds and ends with color and whimsy.

 

  1. BREWED AWAKENINGS

August’s featured art is abstract works by Brenna Lloyd . Come down on First Friday to see the new exhibit and enjoy music by Leah Lemm from 4 – 6 pm.
