First Friday Art Walk – August 4, 2017

  1. BREWED AWAKENINGS August’s featured artist is Victoria Kragthorpe with mixed media works. Live music by Sam Miltich from 4 – 5:30 pm, complimentary coffee and cookies, and a dinner special until 6:30.


  1. HISTORIC CENTRAL SCHOOL ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE Visit with some of the Artists in the Attic – Brittany Benson, Mary Corwin, David Dobbs, Chelsey Jo Johnson, and Annie Humphrey. See their latest works on display.


  1. BEAUTY & BLISS Hosting Sweet Amelia’s with artisan cupcakes and dental student Lydia DeJonge. Stop for a sweet treat and get a free dental screening, ask questions about your oral health, and learn about the importance of daily dental care.  Plus fun kids activities!


  1. MACROSTIE ART CENTER Presenting the 25th annual Juried Art Show and The Pond Series by juror Marva Harms. With refreshments by First Friday sponsor SuperOne Foods and artist talks at 6 pm!


  1. CENTRAL SQUARE MALL Visit the Annual Grand Rapids Area Library Used Book Sale with a kick-off on First Friday. Search thousands of books, CD’s, DVD’s and puzzles for new-to-you treasure! Enjoy sampling light refreshments and listening to live guitar by Nate Mariano.


  1. PROJECT CARE FREE CLINIC Hosting a fun-filled triple-header: Diana Lieffring, a retired math teacher turned editorial satirist cartoon artist, Leah Klegstad, who loves to doodle, draw, paint and photograph, and “fashion as art” with Neva Howard and Lularoe fashions.  Refreshments served.


  1. VFW POST 1720 Sam Miltich and Friends present jazz night with special guests Nathan Norman on drums and Ryan Frane on piano. 7 – 10 pm


  1. WINGS ‘N WILLOWS ART GALLERY AND CUSTOM FRAMING Showcasing the art of Kelli Lien, an award-winning artist painting in watercolor and other mediums. Collages are a favorite. She is a Signature Member of the Red River Watercolor Society.


  1. LAKE LOVER VINTAGE Welcoming Bob Matson onboard signing his book, ‘What’s in Your Boat House? Amazing Stories of Nautical Archaeology.” Bring pictures and stories of your nautical treasures to share and you might get a mention in his next book! Sampling treats from Boondock Enterprises!

FRAME UP Welcoming Sarah Verke, who describes her art as thread sketching or free motion embroidery.  She uses a drawing or photograph and recreates it in her embroidery software and then stitches it out onto industrial hemp and sews pillow covers, bags, and a number of other creations. Sarah is also a member of Free Range Food Co-op and there will be a table with information about the organization and how to join.


  1. FLOWERS BY JEANNIE Artist Jenny Farber of Chaotic Beauty Artistry will be displaying her art reflecting Minnesota’s beauty.  Her pieces include watercolor and acrylic paintings, and wood burned art pieces. Please join us for her first public display.
