First Friday Art Walk – Friday, March 2, 2018


Come to downtown Grand Rapids from 4 – 7 pm for the First Friday Art Walk — community event open to all. Events are free unless noted and families are welcome!

  1. FRAME UP Come explore Frame Up where Karen from Wine Creations will be sampling her products and Sarah Warner from 3 Month Sun Photography will be displaying her portraits that focus on unique lighting.


  1. VFW POST 1720 Sam Miltich and Friends present live jazz from 7 – 10 pm with special guest Dave Graf on trombone. Spend an evening exploring the musical repertoire of J.J. Johnson and Joe Pass. All are welcome!


  1. MOXIE Join us in welcoming March artist Victoria Kragthorpe with paintings and mixed media. Plus light refreshments, new arrivals for spring, and 10% off shop purchases from 4-7pm.


  1. CENTRAL SQUARE MALL Introducing Jennifer Gorman: an artist, positivity specialist, change-maker, explorer, Art Therapist, pubic speaker, workshop giver, runner, and unicorn lover. Her exhibit “352 Pounds” will be displayed on the south wall, and Sweet Amelia’s Cupcakes will be served in Center Court.

  1. CRAFTED BY ITASCA LIFE OPTIONS Stop by the Central Square Mall to see what the CRAFTED artists have created this month. Celebrate artists of all abilities with ILO!


  1. MACROSTIE ART CENTER Presenting two new exhibits for March: paintings by Andrew Nordin and sculpture by Erin Paradis. Refreshments by the Ground Round, food and wine, and artist talks at 6pm.


  1. HISTORIC CENTRAL SCHOOL ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE Visit with the artists on the 3rd floor including Mary Myers Corwin and Waase Aubid plus the newest artist in residence: Kathy Mommsen. Kathy works in black maiolica to create hand decorated functional pottery inspired by nature and the human form.


  1. GRAND RAPIDS NORTH STAR WOMEN’S CLUB Showing FREE kids movies on the second floor of Central School. Screenings at 4:40 and 5:30. Popcorn and hot chocolate free for kids under 10.


  1. Reif Dance Company Show at The Reif Center

    BREWED AWAKENINGS March’s featured artist is Reid Peterson showing work digital and mixed media. With music by Sam Miltich from 4 – 5:30, a dinner special until 6:30, and complimentary coffee and cookies.


  1. REIF CENTER The Reif Dance Company Show brings together original, classical, modern, and contemporary dance by professional and student choreographers. A special collaboration with GRHS Bands will be the highlight this year as they perform excerpts from West Side Story. 7:30 pm. Tickets on sale at
