First Friday Art Walk – June 7, 2019




A fun, free, family-friendly community event in downtown Grand Rapids from 4 – 7 pm.

 

FIRST FRIDAY FOOD TRUCK!   Chad’s Meat Wagon

Located in the Kremer’s Parking Lot (Hwy 2 and 1st Ave NW)

1. FRAME UP

Come take a peek at the jewelry Greg Lease has been creating.  Between old silver spoon jewelry and rings made from resin showing off pinecones, something is sure to catch your eye and spark your curiosity.

2. PROJECT CARE FREE CLINIC

Welcoming local artists and first time First Friday participants Bob and Jen-Ann Sapan for the evening. The Sapan’s work with acrylics and oils using canvas board and stretched canvas, specializing in still life and landscape paintings. They work both individually, and collectively, on their art pieces.  Refreshments and light treats will be served.

3. VFW POST 1720

Presenting live jazz with Sam Miltich and Friends. The featured guest, Ryan Frane on piano, will join Sam, Matthew Miltich on bass, and Jay Epstein on drums. Open to members and the public. 7 – 10 pm.

4.WINGS & WILLOWS ART GALLERY AND CUSTOM FRAMING

Welcoming Judy Blackmarr Stejskal. Judy began her work in watercolor two years ago. Her realistic landscapes depict the beauty of the forests, water, and mountains from Minnesota to the Pacific.

5. LAKE LOVER VINTAGE

Featuring an expanded selection of Tamarick Designs with local custom designed jewelry featuring Lake Superior stone, natural stone, sterling, copper and mixed metals! Treats from Boondocks Enterprises will be served.

6. MYSTIC MOON AROMATHERAPY

Featuring Kelly Bradley’s handmade, all natural bath and body products. Plus an outdoor tie-dye display (weather permitting).

7. ITASCA VINTAGE CAR CLUB

Stop by the parking lot at the corner of Hwy 2 and 1st Ave NW (old Kremer’s lot) for a First Friday Car Show, and enjoy BBQ from Chad’s Meat Wagon. All vintage or special interest cars are welcome.

8. CRAFTED BY ITASCA LIFE OPTIONS

Empowering artists of all abilities! Each piece of artwork was made by a person with a developmental or physical disability.  Stop in and see their latest creations and great gift ideas.

9. BENDER’S SHOES

Join Bender’s as they host ceramic sculpture artist Rebecca Arnold-Sauer who will be in the store with a selection of her functional ceramic pieces.

10. MACROSTIE ART CENTER

Presenting two new exhibits for June: the group show Fiber Jungle in the MacRostie Gallery and Tracy Krumm’s solo exhibit of woven metal and mixed media in the Minnesota Gallery. Music by Briand Morrison, food by Nana Chelle’s Cafe, plus wine and other refreshments and artist talks at 6 pm.

11. OLD CENTRAL SCHOOL

  • Visit the Artists in the Attic on the 3rd floor including Mary Myers Corwin, David Dobbs, Whitney Leming-Salisbury, Aaron Olson Reiners, and Leah Yellowbird. There is always something new to see in these artists’ studios.
  • Art on the Lawn includes displays by area 4th grade students who worked with local artist Aaron Squadroni on projects involving design and weaving.

12. BREWED AWAKENINGS

June’s featured artist is Russ Lawson. The evening will include music by Sam Miltich on solo guitar from 4 – 5:30 pm.
