First Friday Art Walk – September 7, 2018

Come to downtown Grand Rapids from 4 – 7 pm on First Friday for a fun, free, family-friendly event celebrating art and creativity.

1. FRAME UP
Come enjoy the colorful sketches of Grand Rapids resident Donna Miller with music by Minton Miller.

2. VFW POST 1720
Sam Miltich and Friends present live jazz from 7 – 10 pm with special guests Briand Morrison on guitar and Jay Epstein on drums. All are welcome!

3. WINGS ‘N WILLOWS ART GALLERY & CUSTOM FRAMING
Featuring the art of watercolorist Sue Brown Chapin. Sue’s favorite subject matter is her interpretation of the beauty found in northern Minnesota. She especially likes to use a combination of paint and collage to form scenes from the north woods.

4. LAKE LOVER VINTAGE
Lake Lover Vintage will be open with everyone’s booths stocked up! Come see locally made art offerings and even some local art found at estate and garage sales! Treats by Boondock Enterprises!

5. CENTRAL SQUARE MALL
Presenting artist Sam Camilli, who was one of the first Artists in Residence in Central School. She’ll be showing her abstract works in acrylic on canvas – plus cupcakes by Sweet Amelia’s.

6. CLARA’S CUPBOARD
Welcome the newest stop on the First Friday Art Walk! Clara’s Cupboard will be featuring Sandy Gauwitz of Northwoods Candy Company with handmade chocolates and other treats.

7. MACROSTIE ART CENTER
Showing works by Nicole Havekost, Aaron Olson-Reiners, and Itasca Life Options artists. With music by Kelly Manbeck on guitar from 4 – 6pm, food by Timberlake Lodge, and artist talks at 6pm.

8.HISTORIC CENTRAL SCHOOL

  • ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE Visit with the artists on the 3rd floor including Mary Myers Corwin and Leah Yellowbird. Come share in their creativity!
  • TRUE NORTH SALON AND SPA Offering complimentary lip stick touch-ups, FALL in love with your new lip color!
  • Nicole Havekost with Aaron Olson Reiners at MacRostie Art Center

    YARNWORKS Come to an open house celebrating a newly expanded Yarnworks!

9. BREWED AWAKENINGS
September’s featured artist is Keefe Whight with music by G-Rock Revival featuring Leah Lemm and Patrick Jackson from 4 – 6 pm.

10. REIF CENTER
MacRostie Art Center and ISD #318 present an exhibit of Northern Minnesota Wildlife paintings by 2017-2018 area 4th grade students on display in the Reif Gallery. Join MAC teaching artists for a reception from 4 – 6 pm to celebrate the student artists and enjoy light refreshments.
