First Friday Art Walk – December 6, 2019

Come to downtown Grand Rapids from 4 – 7 pm on the First Friday of each month for a free celebration of art and creativity. All are welcome!

    FRAME UP Come meet Neil Johnson, a photographer from Hibbing who has been turning his photographs into coasters, Christmas ornaments and more.  Neil is a traveling photographer – see him before he hits the road again.

  1. MOVE IT REAL ESTATE Featuring Karla Merhar’s Rusty Cuts and Darcy Shannon’s Pebble Art. The Holiday Open House includes a Bake Sale with proceeds going to Second Harvest and agent Cindy DeGrio making lefse.
  1. VFW POST 1720   Presenting live jazz with Sam Miltich and Friends. Featured guest Briand Morrison on guitar will join the band for an evening of hot licks and cool jazz. Open to members and the public. 7 – 10 pm.
  1. WINGS ‘N WILLOWS ART GALLERY AND CUSTOM FRAMING Hosting the beautiful art of husband and wife team Mike and Kathy Jasper.  Kathy will be showing her amazing digitized tea towels and Mike will feature his functional, colorful stoneware clay pottery.
  1. EDWARD JONES – KRISTINA GAALAAS Presenting the artwork of Ms. Sjodin’s 2nd grade class at Forest Lake Elementary, and the creative expressions of costume jewelry sets by Anita Firman.  Stop in for cookies and cocoa with Santa.  Also a drop-off location for Toys for Tots toy donations.

    REIF ARTS COUNCIL POP-UP (In the former Jenny and Co. Building) Boss Mama Colleen Myhre will perform from 5-6:30, co-sponsored by KAXE, & Self IMPROVement will perform from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Beer, wine & snacks. 

  1. LAKE LOVER VINTAGE Showcasing Lake Lover’s locally made products. Look for bobbers throughout the store identifying the works of talented in-house artists and makers. Register to win a gift basket!
  1. GRAND RAPIDS AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION Hosting Gillian Bedford, a versatile artist out of the Bemidji area who paints in water color, oils and acrylics.
  1. CENTRAL SQUARE MALL Girl Team Creations is a new venture in Grand Rapids. Stop by the Central Square Mall Art Wall and learn about their mission to create fun and decorative items for you and your home.
  1. CRAFTED BY ITASCA LIFE OPTIONS 1st Annual Holiday Shindig with shopping, music, food – all while supporting artists with disabilities!  A new collaboration with the GRHS Green Team will offer a line of recycled art, plus stocking stuffers, ornaments and gifts.  Live music by the Dead Lizards!

  1. MACROSTIE ART CENTER Presenting the Northern Spirit Shop holiday marketplace, a new exhibit by Morgan Mercer, the annual Wreath Auction, and M’lou Brubaker’s jewelry trunk show. Food by Timberlake Lodge, music by Darcy Reich, wine and other refreshments, and artist talks at 6 pm.
