First Friday Art Walk – March 3, 2023

Come downtown from 4 – 7 pm for our monthly community celebration of art and creativity. All events are free unless noted, and all are welcome!

Layl McDill at MacRostie Art Center

 

1. MACROSTIE ART CENTER

Hosting the opening of “Keystone Characters” – mixed media work by Layl McDill in the Minnesota Gallery. Reception from 4 – 7 pm with food, wine, and other beverages and an artist talk at 6 pm.

 

2. GIINAWIND CREATIVE SPACE

Showcasing paintings by Shaun Chosa in the exhibit “Indigenous” plus a new installation in “The Changing Room” with information and artwork on the theme of pow wows and regalia.

 

3. STAINED GLASS WITH CLASS

Welcoming artist Nate Korienek with his amazing wildlife photography.

4. OLD CENTRAL SCHOOL 

  • Story Art + Museum

Hosting fairytale-themed 20 minute LEGO quick-build rounds. All ages invited. Work in a group or individually. Bring your own or use Story Art’s LEGOs. These quick-build sessions kick off the March Fairytale LEGO Competition.

 

  • Artists in the Attic

Visit the artists in residence on the 3rd floor. Chelsey Jo Johnson, Joanna Knase, and Eleanor Tillmans have studios open to the public. Stop by to see their latest projects!

 

5. ITASCA ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

Samsoche Sampson at IEDC

Celebrating First Friday with artwork by Samsoche Sampson, live music by Adessa and Keith, food by Pinched Catering, and treats by Miss Sara’s Northern Treats and Cupcakery.

 

6. WILDFLOWER BOOKSHOP

Hosting Carried Through Crafts for the FIRST art walk at Wildflower Bookshop. They make a variety of hand-crafted home decor pieces like porch leaners, door hangers, wood mosaic art, and shelf sitters.

 

7. RAPIDS BREWING

First Friday live music with Sam Miltich from 4 – 6 pm and Lonesome Dan Kase starting at 7 pm.
