First Friday Art Walk – November 5, 2021

  1. FRAME UP

Frame Up is hosting Lea Friesen: an artist and teacher with over 20 years of experience in creative practices.  She holds a Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis in Printmaking and a graduate certificate in Holistic Health.  Lea teaches that expressive creative practice is essential for wellbeing.  Additionally, she is a passionate advocate for each person’s creative potential and personal transformation through meditative introspection.

 

2. LAKE LOVER VINTAGE

Lake Lover Vintage will be hosting Mike Weedman and his lathe-turned “Weed Vases.”  Mike will be debuting his turned wood candlesticks and Lake Lover’s in-house artists will be joining together to fill Christmas trees with their handmade ornaments.

3. STAINED GLASS WITH CLASS

Presenting artist Jo Heikilla who will be playing a variety of music styles on the dulcimer.

 

4. MACROSTIE ART CENTER

Welcoming artists Ashley Hise and Lucas Anderson for the opening of their exhibit “Clay and Chaos: Imagined Vessels of the Sea Peoples” in the Minnesota Gallery. Plus the exhibit “Every Tree Has Stories to Tell”, continues on display in the MacRostie Gallery. Reception from 4 – 7 pm with artist talks at 6 pm. Masks required.

 

5. BENDERS SHOES & GIFTS

Benders Shoes & Gifts in Grand Rapids will be hosting artist Gary Liubakka. Gary features Minnesota’s nature in his acrylic paintings and ink drawings. He is semi-retired, and he and his wife live in Hibbing.

6. OLD CENTRAL SCHOOL

  • True North Salon and Spa + Wildland Fabrics Visit this eclectic boutique and vendor marketplace on the 1st
  • Artists in the Attic Head up to the 3rd floor to meet the artists in residence: Mary Corwin, Lily Dittmer, and Deb Buxengaard will be on hand to kick off their holiday open house weekend.
