First Friday – July 3, 2020

Due to the holiday weekend, First Friday events will be limited this month. But never fear! You can still get your monthly dose of our inspiring art community by tuning in to the online release of MacRostie Art Center’s July 2020 exhibitions and enjoying a free outdoor concert at Tioga Beach.

  • 5:30 p.m. MAC will be unveiling its latest exhibitions: “Art of the Grain” in the MacRostie Gallery featuring works by eleven different wood artists from Minnesota and Northern Wisconsin; and “Digital Memories” in the MAC’s new pop-up gallery in Old Central School featuring photographer Ed Zabinski. Tune in to the MAC’s website and Facebook page to view the virtual exhibit videos. In lieu of a reception, individuals and small groups can sign up for a private tour with Art of the Grain on Monday, July 6 (registration required — call 218-326-2697 to reserve your spot).

  • 7:00 – 8:00 pm Kick off the holiday weekend with a boat-in concert off Tioga Beach in Cohasset on beautiful Pokegama Lake! Don’t have a boat? No problem! You are welcome to join us on the beach for this FREE concert featuring musical duo Venison Cupcake! Musicians Danny Friedman and Matt Alleva will perform classic covers of  the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Gordon Lightfoot, and more. The event will take place rain or shine. Seating on the beach is limited to 250 people and social distancing is required. Check out the Reif website for more information about the event.

Save the Date! Grand Rapids Arts and our business and artist partners downtown are at work planning an outdoor, physically distanced, LIVE First Friday event for August with food trucks, live theater, music, artist displays and more.
