First Friday Art Walk – January 2, 2026

Come downtown to celebrate the arts and artists during the Art Walk! Events are held 4 – 7 pm with live music continuing later. All events are free unless noted, and all are welcome!  [Above image: Keith Thompson ]

Nelia Harper French at Old Central School

1. MACROSTIE ART CENTER

Presenting “Friends Helping Friends” in the Minnesota Gallery – a showcase of artists who participate in the MAC’s open studio program. The open studio artists meet weekly with the goal of helping each other to improve their art through discussion and constructive feedback. Join us for a reception with food, wine, and other refreshments from 4 – 7 pm and an artist talk at 6 pm.

2. OLD CENTRAL SCHOOL

Robb Henry at RBC

The City of Grand Rapids Artist in Residence program is housed on the 3rd floor of Old Central School. Stop up to see the space and visit with the current residents. Nelia Harper French is a painter specializing in oils and Marija Leilynn is a multidisciplinary artist working in painting, photography, and poetry. This month they are welcoming guest artists and watercolor painters Michelle Schwake and Keith Thompson.

3. RAPIDS BREWING

Sam Miltich presents “Electric Django” – an evening of jazz with special guest Robb Henry on electric guitar. The group will perform from 6 – 9 pm.
