First Friday Art Walk – July 3, 2026

Come downtown to celebrate the arts and artists during the Art Walk! Events are held 4 – 7 pm with live music continuing later. All events are free unless noted, and all are welcome!  [Above image: Mary Rose, Lea Friesen, and Summer Scharringhausen at MAC.]

Debbie Barker at Bender’s

1. BENDERS

Featuring artist Debbie Barker. Born and raised in Hibbing, she has held a lifelong passion for art. She painted her first barn quilt approximately 30 years ago and has been teaching monthly classes for the past six years.

2. MACROSTIE ART CENTER

Presenting the opening of “Precious Substratum” featuring Lea Friesen, Mary Rose, and Summer Scharringhausen. Refreshments from 4 – 7 pm and an artist talk at 6pm.

3. GIINAWIND CREATIVE SPACE

Welcoming the artists of the Pine Point Arts Collective for a new exhibit curated by Teresa LaDuke.

Borealis Creamery and Heroes Rise Coffee at Old Central School

4. OLD CENTRAL SCHOOL

  • Fire in the Village Stop by Room 203 to catch up about upcoming events and ways to get involved.
  • Northwoods Candy Company  will be on site with handmade chocolates and caramels.
  • Borealis Creamery and Heroes Rise Coffee Scooping handmade ice cream and pouring coffee and lemonade drinks from the trailer in the Old Central School parking lot.

5. NORTHERN CRUISERS & ITASCA VINTAGE CAR CLUBS

Hosting a First Friday Show-n-Shine from 4:30-7pm at the Old Kremer’s Lot across from Old Central School in Downtown Grand Rapids.  This event is open to any Collector Car, Truck, or Motorcycle regardless of age.  The event is open to the public at no cost. Bobcat’s food truck will be on site.

6. RAPIDS BREWING

Live jazz with Sam Miltich and friends from 6 – 9 pm with special guests Doug Haining on saxophone and Trevor Haining on drums.
